Oooh, you said “oozing” so I had to take the creativity challenge.
    ____________
A couple of months ago, I receive a strange message online. THE LATEST FROM DIAL! I think nothing of it and discard it into my spam folder along with some inheritance letter from an uncle twice removed living in Ubeturnaive.

A few hours later, I go into my bathroom, turn on the bathtub, get in, and my soap is missing. I see an empty bottle in the trash can and curse my husband for not telling me. I can just envision him giggling like he does when he leaves me with a single sheet of toilet paper.

I soak in the water and don’t do much cleaning without soap, so eventually I get out of the water just as dirty as before. It’s then that I think about the message in my inbox. I wonder if it was my husband being courteous and reminding me to buy soap. I go online to check my spam messages, but my folder has already been emptied. “What the Devil?”

I minimise my screen to see my background changed. It’s a picture of us on a cruise in the deep blue sea. By now, I’m really thinking something is up. There’s no one home but me. Who could have changed my desktop? Whatever. Maybe, my husband is messing with it remotely. I wouldn’t put it past him.

I get ready for bed and slip into bed. I’m awoken at 5am to a DM on Twitter. “OMG, girl! That horror book was so crazy! What did you think of it?”

“Horror book? What? Which one?” I message back.

“Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. It was on Netgalley. Didn’t you request it?”

I shoot out of bed and log on to my computer. A horror novel on Netgalley. It’s impossible that I missed it. I type in the name of the book into the search. It doesn’t pop up.

It’s archived. I missed my chance to read the best horror novel of the summer. And all because I didn’t realize that Dial is more than soap.

(Okay, lame. But do I get points for trying?)

Yes yes – definite points for trying. I saw the email for NG and requested it – but I don’t think they accepted many requests! Mine sat there for like over a month before they finally got around to denying it lol.

Well, I don’t think I can compete with the previous entry. I totally agree though, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is the one book I am itching to get a hold of this August. I have read some stellar reviews and lame old publishers turned me down said too many people had requested it already. I was too late. So I am a day late and a few dollars short and dying to read that spectacular book. On another note. The Deadman’s Road book sounds pretty darn fantastic. How could I not want to read about drunk, sacrilegious, gun toting, zombie killing preacher?

Oh man – hey I still loved your comment plenty! haha I didn’t score a Devil ARC from the publisher either! A BEA buddy sent me her copy which I was amazingly thankful for.

So many people want to grab Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. I’m not a creative person, so maybe this is a lame approach but let me be honest with you. I don’t have any credit card to buy it from TBD, I get some amazon GC but it only cover the shipping. I love Devil’s Advocate and Meet Joe Black, I believe this book will somewhat feed my hunger of the Dark Prince story.
Well, wouldn’t hurt to try some luck, right?!?
    Thanks for the giveaway ;p

The Bone Season is the book for me
Buy it please, I’d like it free

I’d love to win it in your hop
    In 2059, the book reveals
a secret cell called Seven Seals
    Criminals committing clairvoyant treason
Thrown in prison with little reason
Guarded by an enemy not of her kind
To gain her freedom she must learn his mind
This book is my dearest August wish
    I must have it or I’ll be a …… unhappy person 😛

Thanks for the chance to win!!

I really want the Dominant by Tara Sue Me. It just came out earlier this month and my budget is beyond tight with me out of work for the past 5 months so I have no way of getting it. I know it is not a very popular book and thus far my library has no plans for it either so I don’t have a lot of ways to get my hands on it. I deeply enjoyed the first book and I want to read it from the guys perspective. I read the teaser and was stuck bouncing on my couch wanting another page…or two…or the entire book. 🙂 This might be my chance to read it! Thanks!

I would LOVE to win Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! I saw it on a Waiting o Wednesday post back in spring and have been impatiently waiting for it ever since. The cover and title are gorgeous and I love gothic novels and the ocean so I NEED to read this!

  7. Sophia Rose

Thanks for participating in the hop and for the giveaway opportunity. If I were to win, I’d want Origin and here is creative way of explaining why:

O- obsessed with the Lux series
R- raving mad over the abso-fab plots and characters
I- irrational hope that it would come out sooner than the pub. date
G- gasping over the delicious Origin cover
I- irritated over the cliffhanger ending in Opal
N- near my limit while waiting for Origin’s release

  8. Eva Millien

I would love to have Kerrelyn Sparks’ The Vampire With the Dragon Tattoo. I really love this series. The characters are lovable and sexy. The author has a quirky sense of humor that shows up here and there in the series. The books can be stand alone for each character, but they do having an ongoing battle to win. Besides most of the vampires are Highlanders, what’s not to love about sword-wielding, Scottish hottie vampires and sexy shifters. Thanks for sharing the hop and the giveaway. evamillien at gmail dot com

  9. Alyssa @ The Babbling Bookworm

I want to win The Fall of Five, the fourth book in the I Am Number Four series…. I am *addicted* to the series (I’ve even purchased/read all of the side novellas in addition to the full length novels). I think the character development is great, I like learning about all of the Lorien Legacies, on top of the fact that I think the plot line is super creative. It’s one of my favorite sci-fi series right now.

I actually was just recently tweeting/thinking out loud about hosting a The Fall of Five new release giveaway to get more people interested in the series… If I won a copy of the book I wouldn’t have to choose between being greedy and buying a copy for myself or hosting a giveaway for my followers :p

  10. Trix

At first I thought I was hearing things. “Trix. Hey, Trix.”

I looked around. Nobody home but me, no TV on, no music…crazy.

“Yoo-hoo, Trix! Don’t you hear me?”

My computer screen was open to the Harmony Ink Press catalog page. I’d spent a few days, alternately frustrating and satisfying, trying to catch their TweetAway book giveaways. (A feat in itself, given that I’m not on Twitter, but I digress.) It couldn’t be…

“This is insane,” I told myself. “No one is talking to me. The volume is turned down on my computer, and Harmony Ink doesn’t have any sound on its page.”

“It has no sound,” the voice piped up. “But it does have…me.”

I looked at the image on the screen. ON THE RIGHT TRACK by Sam Kadence, release date August 15, 2013.

“You’re talking to me? A book is TALKING to me?” I shook my head. “Go away. I’ve been reading so much that my eyes are falling out, and if I spend another dime on books–”

“You want me,” the silky voice purred. “I hit all your buttons, admit it.”

“Um, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Sure, you do. A lovely m/m coming of age story involving a musician and a jock. All your favorite themes in one shiny new package. Available in print and ebook!”

I gulped. “I’m not even in the target audience…”

“But that’s what I love about you,” the voice chuckled. “You’re so willing to…try new things.”

“Another book,” I murmured. “When will the madness end?” I started to reach for my mouse. “I have to be strong. Stop teasing me!”

“Come on. Look at my cover. That glossy black guitar. It looks like a piece of candy, so lovely against the red background. Like a fancy chocolate in a box. You love dark chocolate candy, don’t you?”

He knew me too well, but I had to play it cool. “Uh, sure.” My voice was wobbling in spite of itself. “But not the way I love–”

“Books. I know, darling. You can’t resist them. Can’t even finish one before you’re eyeing the next.” He chuckled. “I should be offended, but I find I can’t wait to be your next conquest.”

I straightened up. “You’ll have to.”

“Come on!” The voice wailed as I staggered out of the room. “We were meant to be together! Trix! Come back…”

Safely out of earshot, I smiled. “Well, maybe there IS a way…”

You are SO delusion-ally spanktastic!! I love it! Next thing you know the books are going to start flying at you off the shelves. I have been so excited by the creative responses to this month’s New Release giveaway! Thanks so much for taking the time to humor me – it always makes me smile when someone does!

The wait for The Bitter Kingdom has been AGONIZING!!! I need to know what happens to Hector, and I need to punch Ximena in the throat, but does the series have to be over?? Rae Carson has played with my emotions so much already, and I know I’ll need major emotional therapy when this is all over….

  12. Donna D

I’m just not creative in any sense of the word. An author I do not want to be, only a reader – I am content. Cozy mysteries, Light romances, some emotional reads ok.

  13. Stephanie H.

Wow! Some of the previous commenters have really raised the bar! My choice for this month is definitely Origin! How could you not want this book. The YA genre is filled with vampires and there are even several werewolf titles to pick from, but Jennifer L Armentrout is one of the few, if not the only author offering up aliens. It’s not just any aliens, but super hot, sexy aliens! If you liked the show Roswell, the Lux series is for you. If you never watched Roswell, you should still read this series. It has it all. . . action from the start, romance, comedy, and I just love the back and forth between the two main characters Katy and Daemon. As a near thirty-year old adult I often say that while I love to read YA (for many reasons), and I love many of the YA heroes, I don’t have crushes on them like I do male heroes from some of my adult series. There are a few exceptions to this rule, however. Dmitiri Belikov from the Vampire Academy, of course, and now and forever, Daemon Black. Maybe I just have a thing for YA heroes with the initials 😉

    • Stephanie H.

Oops, didn’t finish my last sentence! With the initials DB! Thanks!

      • Tabitha the Pabkins

Some of those commenters really went wild didn’t they? I love that so many people made such an awesome effort! *evil grin* I love the power of bestowing extra points for an A+ effort!

I agree – I know many other 30 somethings that love YA. Me among them. I still love adult fiction but sometimes you want something I don’t know that reads quicker and lighter. At least I feel like most YA does. Not all mind you but a fair amount. I hope you’ll visit again!!
