My Thoughts:

Willow has a gorgeous cover! Just sit there and oogle it for a minute why don’t you? I know I did. With that said – admitted I have never read any of the previous graphic novels, nor have I watched the TV show which this is based off of. This particular one represents season 9 of Buffy the Vampire, directed by Joss Whedon. I didn’t realize this when I originally picked this up.  I think because of the fact that I haven’t read previous volumes or watched the Tv show –  I wasn’t able to enjoy it as much as I could have.  I felt like there were bits and pieces that I might be missing. I still enjoyed it well enough and really liked the art style, how kick ass pretty Willow is and in no way is she skanky like I see so frequently in graphic novels that feature a female lead. I especially loved the monsters and demons. Kudos to the team that put this together, I just might pick up the season 1 volume now.

What, you have never watched Buffy??? Oh you are going to have to do that, right away. I have to agree, you’ll never be able to figure out what’s going on in Joss’ season 8 and 9 comics if you aren’t familiar with the series. In fact, I can recite just about every Buffy episode from memory and I STILL don’t undeestand them, LOL! They are just totally whacked out. That cover is beautiful but it doesn’t look much like Willow at all.

But see…I don’t want to watch the show lol. I never had any interest in them while they were new, and still don’t now that they are old haha. Maybe I’ll watch episode one for you…

See I NEVER watched buffy – I think I’ve flipped past the channel as an episode was playing. But when the show was first aired I was way more into Charmed and Iron Chef. haha

I’m obsessed with Buffy. I love Willow, and have read almost all of the graphic novels. Except this one. Season 8 was a bit of a let down, but what I’ve read of S9 has been awesome.

I can see how you’d be confused if you haven’t seen the show. You should totally watch the show! It’s like the best show ever…and Joss Whedon is a genius. Ok, I’ll stop fangirl ing but it’s hard, especially cuz I am a Buffy fangirl LOL

Everyone says I should watch it, but I really don’t have any interest and never did. I thought I would like the graphic novel, and I did like this one, beautiful art. So I might start from the beginning, if you think I wouldn’t need to watch the show to enjoy the graphic novels.

Yeah, you definitely could. Actually I’d recommend reading one of the Buffy Omnibus graphic novels, to familiarize yourself with the characters. From there, I’d have you start with Season 8.
My favorite graphic novel is one you could read right now because no knowledge of Buffy is needed. It’s called Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Slayers. It goes through history and tells the story of all the slayers in different time periods and places!
I’ll recommend you them on GR 🙂 I actually have a couple double copies of the comics I could send you too– for a swap or something

Even though I’m not a Buffy obsessive, I did like a lot of things about it when I did see it, and it’s good to know the book can work as a standalone of sorts!

I have never read a graphic novel, but I have watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer and really liked Willow on the show. I will have to check this book out.

I had stopped reading the Buffy comics, but I might go back now. 🙂

I agree. I mean I might have enjoyed it when I was younger if I weren’t too busy watching Iron Chef and Charmed instead. But I think I could like the Graphic novels if I read them from the beginning.
