Every weekend I do a review in either of these three features Graphic Novel Goodness, Comic Craze or Manga n’ Mind. Feel free to tell me your favorite picks! If you review graphics then leave me your link in a comment and I’ll come check it out!
Armed with Buffy’s broken scythe, Willow has entered another dimension and begun a quest to somehow, someway, against all odds, bring magic back to Earth. She must keep her darkest self at bay while she battles demons—the scaly and horned type as well as her own! Collects the five-issue miniseries.
Willow has a gorgeous cover! Just sit there and oogle it for a minute why don’t you? I know I did. With that said – admitted I have never read any of the previous graphic novels, nor have I watched the TV show which this is based off of. This particular one represents season 9 of Buffy the Vampire, directed by Joss Whedon. I didn’t realize this when I originally picked this up. I think because of the fact that I haven’t read previous volumes or watched the Tv show – I wasn’t able to enjoy it as much as I could have. I felt like there were bits and pieces that I might be missing. I still enjoyed it well enough and really liked the art style, how kick ass pretty Willow is and in no way is she skanky like I see so frequently in graphic novels that feature a female lead. I especially loved the monsters and demons. Kudos to the team that put this together, I just might pick up the season 1 volume now.
