Hilarious hijinx of one man’s cat!

Simon's cat

Simon’s Cat proved his authority in the house. He returned victorious from his adventures beyond the garden fence. He prevailed after the chaotic arrival of a new kitten. Now he takes on the world! Illustrated in glorious full color, this volume explodes from the page with mesmerizing levels of detail. Simon’s Cat films have over 280 million YouTube views!

My Thoughts:

If you’re a cat love and you are not acquainted with Simon’s cat – well then you really need to be. This adorable – terrorizing little guy will wreck your house and your heart. This graphic novel doesn’t really contain a story. Each page is a story unto itself of the mischief Simon’s cat makes. There is even a page of stickers somewhere near the end. This would make the perfect gift for a cat loving friend because they could truly relate to all of the scenes herein. If you haven’t already check out the Simon’s Cat youtube channel!

Art – 5 stars – Adorable, simple and fun
Story – 4 – not really a story – just a hijinx and hilarity that kitties get themselves in to
Overall – 5 – I loved it – it’s a tabletop style book in my opinion but one I’ll share with my son.

Ghosts come in all shapes and sizes!

100 Ghosts

Cut two eyeholes into a bedsheet and BOO! You’ve got yourself a classic Halloween icon. But what happens if you tie the bedsheet in knots? What happens when you set it on fire, hang it from a clothesline, or put a llama underneath it? 100 Ghosts is a brilliantly simple artistic exploration of an icon as familiar as a grinning jack-o-lantern or an arched black cat. It’s a delightful gift for adults, kids, and anyone who enjoys spooky design.

My Thoughts:

These ghosts really do come in all kinds. 100 Ghosts is a cutesy little book with no real story per say – I guess you could consider it a fashion show of ghosts. They are each done up in their own little way. Whether they are pregnant, a cyclops or a nudist most of these little guys will give you a smile. The only downside I would see to this is that I do wish there were a bit of a story running through it because once you’ve gone through the book once I don’t see that you’d have much desire to go through it again. It would make a good Halloween novelty item for a White Elephant party.

Art – 4 stars – Simple tabletop type book, novelty
Story – N/A
Overall – 4 stars – A cute novelty book, quickly flipped thru once but likely not something you’ll look thru again.

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

    i LOVE Simon’s Cat! I’ve shown those videos to so many of my cat-owning friends, and nearly everyone says “my cat does that exact same thing!”

    I’ve already read and own one of Simon’s cats books and you’ve just reminded me I need to get the others! *___* And 100 ghosts seems awesome too, I’ve already added it to my tbr. {I love mangas too and am reading Kobato, I’ll be back here and tell you when I have reviewed it ^^

    {I have a review on the anime of Black Butler, if you wanna check this out ^^ –}

      Ooo! I’ve only seen season one of Black Butler – yes the tea, the refined men…and a young boy – I simply must finish it! I recently just started Attack on Titan (very dark sad and depressing but good) and Guilty Crown (really liking this, funny but serious at the same time)

        I’ve just watched the trailer for AoT and… oh, my! Looks awesome! *___* Surely will be on my watchlist. But first I intend to finish Black Butler, InuYasha and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood first… Guilty Crown has already been added to my watchlist, but as I’ve just mentioned… I need to finish the ones I started. lol. It happens all the time, with animus, books… I start a series and then go and watch/read another and never finish them – so now I am trying to correct that lol =] Have you watched and/or read Another? Awesome horror manga (I’ve read the mangas, have not watched the anime yet, but looks good too ^^)!

          I’ve seen all of the Fullmetal Alchemist – but I haven’t watched the Brotherhood version yet tho. I think I’ve only made it a few episodes into InuYasha.

          I’m not really a manga reader – keep trying but find that I prefer to watch anime. But I do love graphic novels. There are a few manga I plan to read but I never seem to get around to it. I think its because I have a hard time with the backwards reading/pane style. I’m still going to give it a shot – but they are low on my priority list when I can just watch anime instead.

          Some awesome anime worth adding to your list: Last Exile, Speed Grapher, Scrapped Princess, Sword Art Online (season 1 only IMO) and uhh more but I won’t bombard you.

            I had some difficulty with the backwards reading in the beginning, but then I got accustomed to it in the end. Problem is mangas (and comics!) are very expensive in my country, Brazil, so there are only some mangas one is able to read without having to sell a kidney for it! lol

            Already added your suggestions to my list, thanks =] Do you like The Avengers? I loved Avengers Origins and if you like them, you’d probably enjoy it a lot!

            By the way, I already follow you on Twitter, if you wanna chat with me there, it’s @anaeileendeath (currently with Mei Misaki, from Another, as avatar picture).

            By the way, some animes are better than their manga version (like InuYasha, which I dislike the mangos) and Another, the mangas are much better than the anime version btw. That’s why I try to read mangas and watch the animus, but sometimes life gets in the middle lol

            Cya =]
