Book Noms (2)

January 5, 2014 Book Binging 18

What’s more fun than jumping around and seeing what everyone else has added to their shelves for the week? For that reason I link up two these two lovely ladies:

The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Kimba The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga @ Tynga’s Reviews.

Review Books – oh goody oh boy what joy hooray hooray!

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen | Goodreads – We share a last name you KNOW this is going to be good. Ok I admit it’s the trolls and the Stockholm syndrome type love story that has me crazy intrigued. Thanks Strange Chemistry!

Last God Standing by Michael Boatman  | Goodreads – God decides he doesn’t want the job anymore and instead is going to be a stand up comedian. How is this not going to be good? Thanks Angry Robot!

Purchased books! I’m a sucker for a good kindle daily deal what can I say – who knows when I’ll read them tho.

Dead Set by Richard Kadrey | Goodreads – I have enjoyed this author’s urban fantasy in the past, though my fervor for it has died down a bit the past two books. I’m really looking forward to reading this one.

Snuff by Terry Pratchett | Goodreads – Terry Pratchett is a god of comedic fantasy. If you haven’t read something by him yet you should have your hide flayed from your body and your skull used as an ashtray. Alright…that was a bit harsh – just give him a try already – the man was knighted for crying out loud!

Robots versus Slime Monsters by A. Lee Martinez | Goodreads – I backed this short story collection on Kickstarter by the author because I really really like his books I’ve read thus far. They tickle my funny and silly bone in the best way.

Starters by Lissa Price | Goodreads – April just read and loved it – so I had to snatch it up given its on sale on kindle for $2.99.

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

Snuff! The one where Vimes’s wife finally gets a chance to shine. Not the strongest Pratchett (far down the list in fact) but worth it just to see more Sybil. Now trying to figure out why I didn’t jump at the chance for Last God Standing, have to keep my eye out.

Who knows when I’ll actually get around to reading Snuff. Pretty much I’ll buy whatever has the man’s name on it. I’m still a relative newbie when it comes to Terry Pratchett compared to you. I think I’ve read less than 10 of the discworld books. You should check and see if they still have ARCs of Last God Standing left.

  2. Jessica @ a GREAT read

OOoh nice haul! These are all pretty new to me but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Yeah Pratchett likely isn’t up your alley cause he doesn’t scare you such that you want to rip your eyes out or anything like that. He just pokes fun at everything. If you are ever in the mood for a laugh I would recommend you try reading his book MORT (it’s where DEATH decides he doesn’t want the job anymore and leaves his bumbling assistant in charge.)

Great haul of books! Pratchett should be required reading for everybody, loved Snuff but still haven’t read Raising Steam! I got Stolen Songbird too and between trolls & that cover it should be so good, I’m another one that missed out on Last God Standing but I can’t wait to read it – gods behaving badly can only be fun!

Enjoy your new books and happy reading 🙂

Yes Gods behaving badly haha. I guess I’ll have to see what I think – it’ll likely be over a month before I get to it since I think it’s an April pub.

Heck I think I’ve only read less than 10 Pratchett books but I always love them. THey are so refreshing nonsense mind cleanses – sounds backwards I know.

For some reason I had issues with your website when I tried to leave a comment here (despite doing so without any issues on the other post), but I was bound and determined to do it because I wanted to say thanks for putting DEAD SET on my radar! I hadn’t heard of that one and it sounds very meeeeee. 😀 Thank goodness the web gods finally cooperated with my plan, or else there would have been TROUBLE.

How very aggravating! I know its a pain when I want to comment and can’t on some sites! We even removed spam captcha type plugins previously so I don’t know what the problem could have been but I’m glad the evil web goblins finally let you leave a comment!

Oo I hope you end up loving it. I don’t know when I’ll get to it – but I know I have really enjoyed some of Kadrey’s other stuff in the past.

I got Stolen Songbird too and I can’t wait to read it. I’m trying to read my eARC’s and ARC’s away as fast as I can, so I can get started in this one, haha. Happy reading 😀
