The Queen's Army

It is time. The boy must leave his family to serve in the Queen’s army. To be chosen is an honor. To decline is impossible. The boy is modified. He is trained for several years, and learns to fight to the death. He proves to the Queen—and to himself—that he is capable

A great addition to the Lunar Chronicles universe – The Queen’s Army is the short story that tells how Wolf becomes a member of the Lunar Queen’s special army. If you haven’t read book two, SCARLET, then you haven’t met Wolf yet – yes Wolf as in The Little Red Riding Hood – Wolf. These books in The Lunar Chronicles are sci-fi retellings of classic fairytales. He’s one of the main characters that are introduced in Scarlet. I absolutely adore him, and this short story just helped hammer home that feeling and gave me new reasons as well. Oh, its soo wrong to swoon over some teenager I know *evil laughter* – but what can I say, sometimes the teenage girl in me just has her way. In The Queen’s Army you will see how young lunar children (boys only it seems) are taken and genetically modified with the DNA of wolves to become a stronger soldier, they encourage animal instintcs and vicious tendencies. Every day of their lives is a fight, especially among their own.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for my post on The Lunar Chronicles and how these classic fairytales are reinvented with a sci-fi twist – as well as a giveaway for copies of Cinder & Scarlet!

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

Oooh I really want to read this! I have no idea what Wattpad is so I’ll have to look. And I am smitten with Wolf, too.

I didn’t know what wattpad was either and I’ve only looked over there now via Marissa’s webpage. I guess you can post stories up on there. And you don’t need an account or anything to read her story.
