A great addition to the Lunar Chronicles universe – The Queen’s Army is the short story that tells how Wolf becomes a member of the Lunar Queen’s special army. If you haven’t read book two, SCARLET, then you haven’t met Wolf yet – yes Wolf as in The Little Red Riding Hood – Wolf. These books in The Lunar Chronicles are sci-fi retellings of classic fairytales. He’s one of the main characters that are introduced in Scarlet. I absolutely adore him, and this short story just helped hammer home that feeling and gave me new reasons as well. Oh, its soo wrong to swoon over some teenager I know *evil laughter* – but what can I say, sometimes the teenage girl in me just has her way. In The Queen’s Army you will see how young lunar children (boys only it seems) are taken and genetically modified with the DNA of wolves to become a stronger soldier, they encourage animal instintcs and vicious tendencies. Every day of their lives is a fight, especially among their own.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for my post on The Lunar Chronicles and how these classic fairytales are reinvented with a sci-fi twist – as well as a giveaway for copies of Cinder & Scarlet!
