If you’ve stumbled upon my little corner of the blogosphere then *cackles madly* welcome welcome! Some of you may already know me…I’ve been blog stalking many of you for some time. But in case you don’t – pull up a comfy stack of books and have a seat. Let’s get acquainted!
As you’ve likely noticed things are looking rather naked here at Not Yet Read *gasp* but never fear the marvelous Parajunkee is working her magic on a spiffy design just for yours truly. To be revealed soon – we mustn’t rush the artist though *tries to hold her overwhelming excitement back and stop from pestering her*
Did you spy my little robot sketch? I’ve worked up quite a few of them – this guy is actually my favorite so far. Maybe you’ll see him again in the future! Anybody else out there like to draw, paint or digitally illustrate!? I recently purchased photoshop and a wacom tablet thinking it would be easy *surprise surprise* I haven’t even been able to effectively use the graphics tablet yet!
I’ve been giving myself a crash course in wordpress setup, functionality, plugins and linking of various accounts and services to my blog. When I say adventure I really mean it. It’s really excited but then also a bit stressful!
When I finally get everything on Not Yet Read to my liking I’ll have a major giveaway in celebration. Possibly an E-reader, definitely a load of books, book swag for those of you that really like that sort of thing (tell me do you really? I always wonder LOL), maybe something artsy craftsy made by me and whatever other doodads I fancy. Because you have no idea how excited I am about Not Yet Read and this new personal path I’m on!
Tea and crumpets anyone?

I loaded a emergency theme I just purchased from Creative Whim until my final design and layout is completed by Parajunkee. Like I just loaded it five minutes ago – you should check it out! It’s really good for a base theme.

Yes Robots and tea! Wait til you see the little robot avatar Parajunkee and I came up with!!
Leanne @ Oh, the Books!
Ohhhhhh my gosh! I adore robots (especially little cute ones, but even those evil ones that like to burn people’s faces off with lasers or snap them like kindling) and artsy things! I feel like I can’t sketch for crap, though, unless it’s cakes or fonts. I used to draw all sorts of dark and comic bookish things when I was much younger, and somehow lost the touch for it. Oh well. I’ve started messing up a brand new art journal with paints (which I never really messed with before) so maybe I’ll pick that skill up again.
You have a wacom tablet, how exciting! I haven’t had the pleasure of using one yet but it’s something I’ve always been interested in. It seems like it would have a strange learning curve, but be valuable once you get used to it.

If you love robots you are going to just go gaga over my design that is in the works! I drew all these little robot sketches up and Parajunkee is turning them into graphic illustrations!
So I still haven’t even figured out to use the dang wacom! I’m such a goober. I bought it thought it would be easy and now I just can’t be bothered to invest the time to learn it AND photoshop. I hope to take a class someday cause that would be so much fun!
You like art yes yes yes! I can’t wait to unveil the feature or meme I’m going to try to start up this friday! If you’re artsy you’ll love it!

You like him!? yipeee. Actually I’m supplying all the little robot sketches to Rachel and she’s going to digitally illustrate right over the top of them. So when the final graphics are all finished I will have had a really personal touch on them. Isn’t that so neat!? I was sooo ecstatic when she said she could use my sketches. You should see the latest sketch I did for my “book binging” posts. I shared him on my twitter/instagram. He is so freaking cute shoving a stack of books in his mouth!

I must find your instagram now *goes digging*

Joy (Joyousreads)
As you can tell, I’ve recently gone through a transformation myself. And it certainly looks like another one is in the offing. I’m relatively happy with my design (even though it’s generic), but I am now just seeing a lot of pitfalls by going through a free WordPress platform. I think I’m just going to let this one go for another week or see and then seek professional help (another one) to switch me over to a self-hosted one.
I can’t wait to see your new design!

I definitely think you would have been happier on the self hosted wordpress option. I’m glad I went this route because ultimately I have full control of whenever I want to change things and you don’t have to pay the free site anytime you want to make certain changes (that’s what I heard from my brother in law …I don’t know since I’m not on the free version)
When you make your final decision I hope you decide to write up a post about it!
I’m on a basic look of the tweak me theme I bought from Ashley until my final layout and design is finished. It is looking really good so far from the mock ups Parajunkee has supplied me. I know she is known for her PNR designs but we are going very light with the one she’s doing for me and its been so fun working with her!

I glad you like the little robot guy. I actually drew all the little robots that you’ll be seeing around on my blog once the design is done. I’ve put up little sketches of him in a few of the posts. I have such an adorable one of him eating some books which I think I’ll make the logo instead.
I’m definitely glad that I’m doing so well so far!

Thanks Miranda. I was pretty happy with how the sketches vs the digital illustrations turned out. The sketch here in this post was the rough sketch. I drew another one later that she used instead for the final one.
