THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:
Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it…nicely.

A few years ago I a RED RAIN by R.L. Stine came out and I decided to give it a read because I had nostalgic memories about reading goosebumps when I was a kid. Can you believe I can’t remember anything about those books as a kid other than that they were fun to read. So when he released this book for adults I thought – hey I will probably love this.
It started off great with a cool opening a heart wrenching storm wiping out almost the whole population on this island but then it quickly deteriorates from there. One of the main characters was a blogger too if I remember right. All I know is that she immediately brought home these two orphaned boys back to the mainland with her intent on adopting them without even asking her family’s feelings on it – of which she had a husband and kids already. Everything in the book felt so poorly written and scripted that I’m amazed I could finish it. It was one of the only books I’ve given 1 stars to ever …unfortunately – I would have given it negative stars if I could. (See my review)

HOLA!!! Such a bummer to read about a sucky RL Stine! I mean WHAT!! I loved his Fear Street (which I heard is coming back this September!).

Haha I won’t be reading anything by him again unfortunately. I’ll just try to remember those childhood years.

OMG, I would have TOTALLY read that, and for the SAME reasons, if I had known about it. Thank god I didn’t, I guess 😉 ALSO–the site looks fabulous!!

Thanks this is still just the mock up and not the final design or layout! It will be so adorable when done!

Ooohhh, I remember reading that description. It sounded…well bad. Lol. I’m glad I stayed away.
I do have A Midsummer Night’s Scream from BEA last year because he’s RL freaking Stine but I’m kind of afraid to read it. I don’t want to ruin my perfect image of him from my Goosebumps days.

Ahh yes, I remember reading the description for this one and backing away slowly. I’m now glad I stayed away.

I may be the only one of my generation who didn’t read Stien as a kid. Joan Lowry Nixon had a middle school horror mystery series that was my poison of choice at the time.
Didn’t even know he tried his hand at an adult novel.

I have actually never read anything of his and I didn’t read as a kid so I didn’t read Goosebumps either. Thanks for the information. Pretty sure this book wouldn’t be for me. I am a new bloglovin follower!

I, too, fondly remember reading Goosebumps as kid! The only ones I vaguely recall are the ones where you picked your own story with the multiple choice questions. Those were the days! I don’t think I’d be much for this book, though. I’ll choose to remember R.L. Stine for Goosebumps!

Bummer, I hate it when that happens!
I love Goosebumps as well. Though I watched more of the movies than I did read the books. And here is my little secret, the one movie I watched with the talking ventriloquist doll gave me nightmares.. I still hate watching that movie lol!

Seriously movies from childhood can leave nightmares behind for years! My oldest sister made me watch Candy Man (the murdered slave with the bees and hook on his hand) I still have issues over that and Freddy Krueger – I had a really cruel eldest sister. She made me sit through them all and watch them with her friend when I was only in the 3rd grade.

You know I’m odd I loved old black and white movies, musicals and old Jane Eyre and Emma, Little Women type movies and such more as a little kid. My first novel was Little Women. I do remember the Goosebumps as lite snacks though. =)
