This week’s art was inspired by ooops…nothing!

You heard me right! I ended up with a sinus infection, way too much work, not enough sleep and oh yeah lots of planning I need to do for my BEA trip to NYC next week – so instead you’ll be treated to a random page from my sketch book. Here I am going…

“oops sorry I didn’t mean to I swear!” or “The jig is up”

Alright folks link up and lets see what you’ve done! Remember to link back to this post!

This week I decided to participate in a fun weekly feature Nathan @ Fantasy Review Barn came up with using the book THE TOUGH GUIDE TO FANTASYLAND by Dianne Wynne Jones – using that as inspiration we shall tour the mystical countryside looking for adventure and fun (and tropes) from all over fantasy!

This week’s guide is on Hidden Kingdoms!

Hidden Kingdom.  Usually reached through CAVERNS or after an arduous trek into the heart of the central masssif, this is often the object of the Tour QUEST…

STOLEN SONGBIRD by Danielle L Jensen – You can’t get more hidden than this. One must dive into a lake, swim under to reach a cavern – then travel through said cavern where dangerous creatures lurk that will eat you – to then reach an entire Troll city that is stuck under a mountain.

SABRIEL by Garth Nix – So this is one of those “beyond the wall” Kingdoms where the hidden kingdom exists and is hidden from our world by a wall that is guarded. One of my favorite YA series right here.

STARDUST by Neil Gaiman – this is an obvious one and probably would be on many lists. It’s another “beyond the wall” type hidden kingdom.

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

This is already the sixth week of fan art? Where the hell is my life going so fast?

You joined us in our silliness! I so excited. And came up with non-cheating examples, which I struggled with badly this week. I never read Sabriel. In fact, I missed most of the classic YA fantasy because I wasn’t reading it at the time.

I ran out of time today before I had to grab the toddler from daycare otherwise I would have put in covers and links lol. Really you don’t think beyond the wall type kingdoms were cheating? Hooray!

I know I can’t believe that it’s the sixth week either! I have had such a hectic week that I didn’t have time to draw anything! Next week i am putting up some of Mogsy’s fanart since I will be out of town for the week in New York. I have to get a whole week’s worth of posts scheduled by sunday night to last through the following Sunday #groans

I agree, Stolen Songbird is so perfect for this week’s Tough Traveling!

And I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, you really should think about trying to color your art pieces, your line work is always so clean like they really are made for coloring!

Stolen Songbird is the only one from your list I haven’t read – it was on lots of other people’s lists, as well. Though I have to admit, it’s been so long since I read Sabriel that I pretty much remember nothing about it!
