REVIEW BOOKS!
I got a lovely mix of review books this week. PYR in particular sent me three books. Goodness gracious! I was also super super excited to receive MORTAL GODS, THE SEAT OF MAGIC, A BARRICADE IN HELL and BITTER GREENS. I can’t read through these fast enough!!

Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth | Goodreads | a historical retelling of Rapunzel
A Barricade in Hell by Jaime Lee Moyer | Goodreads | – My review of book 1: DELIA’S SHADOW goes live 6/16/14 (Monday)
Mortal Gods by Kendare Blake | Goodreads | – check out my review of Book1: ANTIGODDESS
The Seat of Magic by J. Kathleen Cheney| Goodreads | I adored her first book with selkie and seria in an alternate history fantasy Portugal. See my review of Book1: THE GOLDEN CITY
Falling Sky by Rajan Khanna | Goodreads | – zombie-esque? pirates? Yeah I can do this baby
Grudge Bearer by J.F. Lewis | Goodreads | – hey Fantasy – and there is a dragon on the cover!
The Leopard by K.V. Johansen | Goodreads | – This sounds like some really cool epic fantasy
Shattering the Ley by Joshua Palmatier | Goodreads | – Mogsy @ The Bibliosanctum was awesome enough to send me her extra copy and it sounds realllly cool. Be not fooled by the scary typography on the front.
NICE DRAGONS FINISH LAST by Rachel Aaron | Goodreads | – AND WAIT!!! This one is what I’m totally going GA GA over because as you all well know I LOVED the RACHEL BACH Paradox Trilogy so when Rachel Aaron (aka Rachel Bach) put out a update that she was looking for some reviewers to read her upcoming self published book NICE DRAGONS FINISH LAST, I swooped in and begged for a copy. Isn’t the cover gorgeous? It’s urban fantasy with DRAGONS! See my interview with her
PURCHASED BOOKS!
So I bought a bunch of of books recently. These are the ones I have on hand. The other batch I ordered from Bookoutlet.com (I think over 10 books…yes I have a buying addition ok?) So I’ll show that goodie box when it arrives.
Malice by John Gwynne
The Obsidian Pebble by Rhys Jones
Steampunk II edited by Ann & Jeff Vandermeer
Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch
Shadow Ops: Control Point by Myke Cole
Equoid by Charles Stross

MORE BEA Books!
On the last day of BEA (BookCon day) I didn’t have anymore room in my carry on or checked bags for my plane flight so I had to mail myself a box. I was a dummy and already shelved them all as soon as I got them. So honestly – I know I got a bunch of graphic novels. Mouse Guard vol 2, Tanpopo vol 2, Rust – Visitor in the Field, Darklight, 28 Days Later, Clive Barker’s Next Testament, a TON of single first issues (for those of you that don’t know – the IMAGE COMICS booth always gives away a ton of free single issue, first issue comics.

Marvelous Things I Found This Week
So I’ve had a pretty awful week. My toddler came down with an absolutely nasty case of the ikkie ikkies and couldn’t go to daycare all week. Plus I was on call for work – and when I mean on call I mean I was getting calls constantly all hours of the night – very NOT pleasant. But really there is always someone that somehow manages to brighten my day. So here I’m sharing it with you!
Nikki @ There Were Books Involved mentioned me in her BEA wrap-up post as a blogger she aspired to be. I think my jaw about dropped. This is her giving lots of love and shout outs to all many of the people she met at BEA. I love seeing how enthusiastic everyone is about the new people they get to meet and hopefully become friends with.

And then another blogger I adore pimped me as one of her favorite fantasy blogs!
@peruseproject Ack! Ok! Fantasy-wise, I love @jnikkir @Pabkins @OnStarshipsBlog @ReviewBarn

I also found this little pearl of wisdom
The truth is never as sexy as you want it to be. That’s why we have fiction. — Sam Sykes (@SamSykesSwears) June 13, 2014
And stumbled upon a blog post putting out the stats on just how many of us women really DO play video games. A lot I tell you – A LOT.
Why is everyone demanding games be feminist when women don’t even buy games? — http://t.co/rMhwTlZ5LP (Dumb question, great answer)
— Joe Martin (@JoeThreepwood) June 13, 2014
And you all know how I love fan art – I was super excited when I found this tweet putting out fan art of actual authors. The other figuers are Myke Cole and Delilah Dawson (I guess them right hehe)
As promised here is the picture of @SamSykesSwears and @ChuckWendig eating @wes_chu pic.twitter.com/C6IuPfdoKK — kasey gibbs (@MercuryRitter) June 13, 2014

I WAS READING AARON FROM THE GET GO!!
She obviously sent it to the wrong address. California, Colorado, easy mistake to make.
I read the cute little panda book once to the kiddo. He didn’t like it. Perhaps his Gaiman love will come later in life. At least I hope so. He better.

You need some books Nathan? Have you read Delia’s Shadow? I have an Extra copy of book two that just came out. Most of the other duplicates I get are YA tho and I doubt you’d want those lol

Naw, I am good. I get treated pretty nicely by some pubs, and lord knows NetGalley kicks my ass at times. I am glad to be in a slower new release time TBH, catching up a few old ones.
And thanks for the shoutout the other day!
Shawna
Sorry to hear about the bebe. I hope things are better there soon.
I liked the video game article, and agree, games should be more feminist. I have been a gamer a long time, as have you, and it would be nice to have stuff that is reflective of us. Not all games can be Animal Crossing and Skyrim, I suppose.
As for books, this weekend I am reading The Fourth Stall, knitting magazines, and beading magazines.
Tabitha (Not Yet Read)
The little guy is definitely getting better. It was a rough past seven days that is for sure.
I think Skyrim came out when I was pregnant. I have my copy installed but I think I started it and got violently motion sick because of the pregnancy. Ah yes it’s all coming back now. I must try again now and see if I can handle it. I notice after having Colin that I get motion sick way easier and I was already prone to it with some video games. Like Bioshock…sweet hot totties did I want to play that game but I just about puked after three attempts.
I haven’t knit in awhile, I prefer crochet and love making amigurumi toys. What you knitting? I have a bead collection too! Course I only ever used them to make book markers lol.

YAY FOR THOSE AWESOME TWEETS! Sad that your little one was sick though. 🙁 It’s the saddest thing when a small fry is sick, because they can’t even properly say what’s hurting them. MAKES ME SO SAD.
