See by review of Book 1: DELIA’S SHADOW

This particular series features Delia who can see ghosts. One of the main ghosts in A BARRICADE IN HELL is the ghost of a little girl who carries around a little china doll. She has ringlet hair and haunting blue eyes.

There is also a secondary character named Isadora that is a friend and mentor to Delia. She is a powerful spiritual medium. In one scene she drove up to Delia’s house to pick her up and she was described wearing brown aviator goggles and brightly colored scarfs on her head that trailed behind her as she drives. As you can tell I’m trying to add color. My sketches for the next few weeks likely aren’t going to be as good because since I’m not very good at coloring with markers yet I’m investing less time in the sketches until I get better with the markers. (These aren’t my copic markers yet – these were the normal markers I had – next time though!) And yes I know this doesn’t look like something from 1917 San Francisco – cut me some slack.
Alright folks link up and lets see what you’ve done! Remember to link back to this post!

TOUGH TRAVELING
Hosted by Nathan @ Fantasy Review Barn
Each Thursday, our copy of ‘The Tough Guide to Fantasyland’ in hand, we shall tour the mystical countryside looking for adventure and fun (and tropes) from all over fantasy.
Today’s Tour Topic is…MINIONS!
MINIONS OF THE DARK LORD are all over the place. The DARK LORD has been busy planting them for years.
OLIVER TWIST by Charles Dickens – What better minions could there be then a pack of kids running around stealing and delivering you all of their loots each day!?
DRAGON WING by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman – Anyone else read this one? It’s the first in the series and here the “Gegs” are another name for dwarfs and these dudes serve the great machine that is the Kicksy Wicksy (I might be spelling that wrong I’m going by memory here).
READY PLAYER ONE (my review) by Ernest Cline -The Sixers are pretty much a guild of players that work for the company IOI and they are after the hidden easter egg in Oasis. If they win Oasis would forever be controlled by the evil company! Down with the man I say!
MISTBORN by Brandon Sanderson -The Steel Inquisitors are scary as hell. I mean come up they have big huge steel spikes jammed into them all over their body – and they work for the bad guy – how much more minion ca you get?
CINDER (my review), SCARLET (my review) and CRESS (my review) by Marissa Meyer – The Lunar Queen has been planting her spies and soldiers all over Earth for well probably for as long as she’s been in power – maybe even before. She has secret agents that are hybrid wolf / lunar.
STORMDANCER (my review) and KINSLAYER (my review) by Jay Kristoff -The Guildsman control the blood lotus that is fueling all the tech in the country and poisoning it at the same time. They don’t really work for the Emperor but they try to make him think they do.

Yeah I’ve come to the conclusion that I can just shoot for two each week. Or maybe do one fan art one and then one random page from my sketch book that I can show. That might be fun as well =) Sometimes it’s hard coming up with something to sketch from the books I’m reading.

Great tour topic about minions, they are actually a lot of fun aren’t they? Kind of like slaves, but cuter lol. I’ve heard so many promising things about the Jay Kristoff series, I’ve got the first 2 hardbacks on my shelf signed but haven’t gotten into them yet.

Your coloring is just fine my friend, no more pulling our leg on that one.
Sixers, forgot about the sixers. And spikes through the eye are scary. I may not be Sanderson’s #1 fan, but he has some damn fine ideas.

Just fine? Me thinks you’re in need of spectacles LOL But thanks. Hopefully it’ll get better in the coming weeks.
How could you forget about the evil Sixers! Spikes through the eyes are freaking disgustingly scary….

I never knew Delia’s Shadow had a sequel! Not sure if I’m going to read it, but it sounds better than its predecessor, so who knows? Anyways, your drawing is cute as ever! I love how creepy and adorable the ghost looks at the same time. And the doll, okay, I have to admit that it gives me the creeps, but that just shows what a good artist you are, right?! Right. 😉
And omg! Isadora looks totally cool and hipster, lol. Love it!

Okay, either you’re blind or you’re crazy, because your colouring is adorable! I think I prefer the ghost girl and her doll though. Super creepy!
And yesss to the Sixers! There was something about those guys that just set my teeth on edge. Could be the whole cheating thing, come to think of it…

Awesome fan art! I think it’s so cute! I really want to read that book too!
Also, minions. I love some good minions. I also REALLY LOVE the minions from Despicable Me. I’m like 32 years old. For real. But I love them. I think they are so cute. I want to hug them!
Also, henchmen. Minions and henchmen. Love them all. I don’t think I would be a minion or a henchman though. I think I would be either the heroine or the evil mastermind.
My one friend says that she really likes the loyal sidekick and I’ll be honest, she is a pretty awesome loyal sidekick. I think she relates to them.
Happy reading!

I completely agree with you. I am a total sucker for those minions and I’m 32 as well. I love all of those animated movies they are the best. Heck I really wish I could go watch How to Train Your Dragon 2 this weekend but can’t because I’m working all weekend on call.

OMG! I’ll pester my brother so I could join this one! Great idea 🙂
Is there a weekly theme we have to follow? Doodles only? How about digital arts? 🙂
Kathleen recently posted…Showcasing my Stack (5)
Tabitha (Not Yet Read)
Hi Kathleen. I hope you do decide to join!!
No there isn’t a weekly theme – you can do whatever art you want to do each week! And it can be whatever form you want: digital, doodles, ink, painting, crafting whatever you want to do inspired by books, movies, comics, TV, games etc. I know Kel over at Booked Til Tuesday links up Disney drawings every week. I do book fan art just whatever book I feel like drawing a doodle from. I’ve done one painting before as well. And my sister made two art dolls a month ago. So I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
