BookBinging

Huzzah to Book Binging! and all things Science Fiction and Fantasy! I might be all out of wit today – I just need a nap.

REVIEW BOOKS!

So this is actually two weeks worth of books because yah I was lazy last week. I was going to be lazy again this week and not do a Book Binging post but I thought if I waited another week things, meaning the post might get quite out of hand in length.  I think I need to have a binging session of reading a book a day to catch up. I did that earlier this year in February. Course I’d likely have to forgo doing much blogging all month to accomplish it. Whatever would I do without my internetssss?

DUST AND LIGHT by Carol Berg | Goodreads |

How much must one pay for an hour of youthful folly? Oh my pretties – you only just came to my attention and already I foam at the mouth for you. Anyone else planning on reading this one?

CLARIEL by Garth Nix | Goodreads |

A dangerous Free Magic creature is loose in the city, her parents want to marry her off to a killer… I have a deep love for his Abhorsen Trilogy and have been waiting ages for this one to come out. FEEL my fury! Feel my love – I will bring you the pain if you aren’t as delicious as I expect you to be. Rain of fire I tell you. I’m so excited to finally return to this world! Squirting love out of my ears here.

RAT QUEENS | Goodreads | (graphic novel)

A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire Another blogger read and reviewed it and I went ooo grabby hands – and had to buy it immediately – but why it is in this section? Who knows cause I like to keep things even numbered?

THE CUTTING ROOM edited by Ellen Datlow | Goodreads |

twenty-two classic tales are a chilling homage to the silver screen Unfortunately I hadn’t heard of this one and it doesn’t really look to be up my genre alley. Looks like crime, mysteries, thrillers. Anyone interested in reading and reviewing?

THE VAULT OF DREAMERS by Caragh M. O’Brien | Goodreads |

every moment of the students’ lives is televised as part of the insanely popular Forge Show Are you – are you REALLY my dream boy? Lies I tell you! – I caught mine already. I keep him in a jar that I rub and sometimes let him out to go to work and bring me dinner.

BETWEEN THE SPARK AND THE BURN by April Genevieve Tucholke | Goodreads |

“gothic thriller romance with shades of Stephen King and Daphne du Maurier” I seriously enjoyed the first book last year BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA – so yes so so so giddy when I got a message saying they were sending this one. Oh and in case you didn’t know this is a duology so this will wrap things up I think!

SHADOWS by E.C. Blake | Goodreads |

Mara finds herself possessed of a volatile magical power that neither she nor any of her allies can truly controlLast year I read the first in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a bit grim considering it featured such a young character but you can judge for yourself – here’s my review of Book 1: MASKS

THE GRAVEYARD BOOK vol 1 by Neil Gaiman | Goodreads | (graphic novel)

The first volume of a glorious two-volume, four-color graphic novel adaptation I haven’t yet read the actual book *thought of course don’t you know I own it* so I will totally have to start with the graphic novel then and then follow it up with the book!

The super secrets books I can’t talks about?

And then there’s the book I can’t talk about but that I makes me want to roll around on the floor kicking and screaming with oodles of joy that the author was willing to share it with me…yeah fan-freaking-tastic. That is all I can say.

CALIBAN’S WAR by James S.A. Corey | Goodreads |

Space Opera!! A treasure found in the used book shop – Maybe I can score a copy of the third book as well – time to go mother fracking hunting. I know I know I haven’t even read the first one – but it’s going to be a TV show on SyFy and everyone I know who has read it loves it!!

CHASING THE DRAGON by Justina Robson | Goodreads |

Tina says she has read them all and that she’ll bequeath them to me – course I still couldn’t resist buying this even if it is book 4 in a series I haven’t read yet – did I mention I have problems?

FALLING KINGDOMS by Morgan Rhodes | Goodreads |

Oh delicious used book store find – YOU BETTER BE DELICIOUS OR I will BURN YOU!! calming down now…self control – ok I wouldn’t burn it…it does sound delicious though doesn’t it? Epic YA Fantasy supposedly – we shall see my pretty, we shall see.

THE FORBIDDEN LIBRARY by Django Wexler | Goodreads | (GIFTED from Samantha)

Oh my pretty how I will get lost in your magic pages and your creepy library and oh what a talking cat? Thank you so much Samantha!! Admitted Anya had sent me her ARC of this some time ago so I’ll be putting that in the up for grabs pile I’m glad I’ll be reading the final version (with perty illustrations yes!?)

OF NEPTUNE by Anna Banks | Goodreads | (GIFTED from Samantha)

The final book is now MINE! Yes – it’s mermaids, yes it’s YA mermaids and no don’t judge me it’s good I tell you.

CRASH by Lisa McMann | Goodreads | (GIFTED from Anya @ On Starships and Dragonwings)

She gave me the second book last year and wonders why I never read it – so now she’s pushing the first book on me *cackles madly*

My Crazy Corner

– Watercolor painting is going well, copic marker progress not so much. I got a little frustrated and so I’m taking a week or so to just indulge myself with the watercolors. Those are fun. But never fear – I will try again with the markers in a few weeks. Never give up! Never Surrender!

– I went and saw the musical Mary Poppins live at my local Music Circus Theater. It was such a different production then the movie was. I really enjoyed it. Anyone else enjoy musicals? I’m going to see three more this summer. South Pacific, Brigadoon and La Cage.

– Watch your mailboxes!!

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

I have Of Neptune to read too. XD So excited to see how that trilogy ends, although I wasn’t really keen on book #2. >_< Still…it has time to redeem itself. Also: Vault of Dreamers. Can't wait for your review on that one! It sounds soooo good. XD

I didn’t like the first book of Of Poseidon or whatever the title was. Not sure what it was… I almost bought a bunch of books, but ignored my email from wherever it was. I actually still bought two books, but they were HCs for under $7.

oh, yes, yes, yes…my husband and I love musicals! We saw Mary Poppins on Broadway…so much fun and different! We try to visit NYC every couple years and buy the cheaper tickets on the same day as. We saw South Pacific at the Kennedy Center at Christmas 2012f with our kids. (We splurge at Christmas for a play each year! Luckily, the kids like musicals, too.) We’re seeing a Gilbert and Sullivan next week when we’re in Seattle.

I’m going to go explore your wonderful sounding books–none of which I have, of course!

I got that same offer from bookoutlet! I think I’m going to binge on books there today. I tell myself I’ll mostly be buying children’s books for my daughter, but maaaaaaaybe (okay, most definitely) I’ll throw a couple of my own books in the cart 😛

RAT QUEENS! Soooo much flail for that book. I can’t decide which of the Queens you’ll like the most…probably Dee. I got that BookOutlet coupon too, but I resisted since I’m on a minor book buying ban. Just until I pay tuition in September…darn school, ruining my fun. So excited to hear your thoughts on Rat Queen’s, and also about this super secret book!

I’m sorry, I saw Clariel, hissed at you with jealousy, and started sulking… I hope you enjoy it! I need to finish rereading the other books, but ugh, I hate that I got turned down for a review copy.

    Enjoy your other books too!

Great books!! OMG I can’t believe you’re getting Between the Spark and the Burn. I love that first book and I’m super excited to read the second one. I hope you like it.
I always feel behind on review books! I like it that you tried to catch up by reading one a day. That is some serious determination!
I may have to try that… maybe a reading staycation is in order!

    Happy Reading!

Maybe it’s time to trade Book Outlet binges for BWB sales. You can’t beat 40-45% off bargain bin prices. 😉

I read BTDATDBS last year…and hated it. But I’ll be interested to see your thoughts on how the duology wraps up. Go read The Graveyard Book! It was one of my favorites last year.

Good luck with the copics! Any chance the online tutorials are helpful?
