Want to participate? See the Fan Art Up! main page
The participation guidelines have been updated! You can now participate via Twitter, Instagram or your blog. Just #FanArtUp and be sure to include the link to this week’s post (and add your art to the linky below!) and it doesn’t necessarily have to be “fan art” if you want to just share your art with us let’s see it!

This week’s art was inspired by Hapenny Magick by Jennifer Carson, Illustrated by P.A. Lewis. I picked up this adorable yet dark middle grade fiction book while at BEA 2014. The cover art immediately grabbed my attention because all of you know how big of a cover whore I am. So just my luck I was granted a copy for review. I’m happy to say the inside of the book has a number of beautiful black and white sketches as well!

So link up folks we want to see your art!

I am a guest today on another blog!
So be sure to visit the blog OH MAGIC HOUR (which I adore) as she had me share another of my doodles for their SWASHBUCKLING SUMMER!

Love your watercolors!! Love them!
I started to draw, but I’m not confident enough… yet… to share them publicly. I will… someday. 🙂

No worries – I feel that way about what I’ve done with markers. They are so horrendous I was only willing to show one and it was a terrible drawing anyway. I’ll look forward to seeing something from you someday tho!

Markers are TOUGH, even now I struggle with them. I’ve pretty much given up on color markers and now work with greyscale almost exclusively, so if you want to give it another try maybe that’s something you can look into! I find it easier. Watercolors are a lot more fun though so if you’re enjoying them I say just do that. Man, you make me want to start up painting again. Nice work!

Markers definitely are tough. I do have a bunch of grey markers in the set. I’ll give those a whirl. I just hate when I’m not instantly good at something LOL. I know it’s unrealistic. The water color is so fun and easy and just less cleanup. I’ve just taken to leaving a jar of water on my desk and the paint palette open. I love that the paint can dry out and you can just reconstitute it! NO WASTE!!
I hope you decide to do some painting!

I don’t know how you find the time to read / blog / doodle… I started following you on Instagram so now I don’t have to wait for your fan art Thursday’s to get my fill. 🙂

You know – I don’t know how I find the time either. But honestly right now I’m very behind on the reading. The blogging I always manage to keep up. Thankfully Tina and Maggie have been helping with some of the backlog of review books. My friend Rachel is also going to contribute a few reviews here and there as well. So I’ll add her in once she is ready.
Horray so glad that you like the doodles! I saw that you’d followed. I feel like I’ve bombarded my instagram with doodles lately. I need to take some book photos! maybe get some props and do some artsy shots if I can figure some out.

Your pictures this week are absolutely gorgeous! Somehow I’m always drawn to the ones with critters sleeping – must be because I’m a sleep monster!
I’ve added my dreadful doodle!

That is so nice of you but I wouldn’t dream of putting you to all that trouble! I’m in the UK and the postage is ridiculous. I do love your little character asleep under the tree though.

What are you taking about it’s no trouble at all. You’ll be my penpal across the big pond.

Cover whores, unite! I only wish that I could do my favourite covers justice with my fan art. Maybe one week I’ll participate via twitter and subject you to my horrific drawing “abilites.” It’s like Hyperbole and a Half style art without the intentional humor.

I highly doubt your abilities are bad and hey I love Hyperbole and a Half – she rocks it I tell you. Draw a piece of candy on the floor that torments you. I hope you do participate someday – the more the merrier!!!

Thanks Mel – they are totally fun to do. I’ve taken to leaving my watercolor stuff out on my desk all day and sneaking one in whenever I can. Since I have a big stack of doodles I finished.

I’m so glad you like him! I adore him as well. he’s one of the more ‘realistic style’ doodles I’ve done so far. I do faces sometimes but bah haven’t liked the ones I’ve done lately.
I need to do some more foxes.

Thanks Angie! I really need to do like a daily doodle. Sometimes I’ll go one day and do a ton then go a week without any. A daily one would be good. But when I’m in the mood I just whip them out.

Your watercolors are turning out quite nicely! You already know I love your little sleepy guy, but the others are really cute too. I like chicky-poo’s ears from Hapenny Magick as well 😉 Great post, Tabitha!

I adored how the Hapenny Magick doodle came out in pencil. When I inked over it I didn’t like it as much. There is just something about pencil that I love. But if I don’t ink it – then it’ll give all smudgy eventually.
