This week’s art was inspired by
MALEFICENT the movie
I watched it a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Adapted from the Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and told from the perspective of Maleficent I really love how lately Disney seems to be focusing on familial love instead of romantic love. So I didn’t exactly paint Maleficent, but my own version of a horned girl inspired by her character.
You can see lots more of my daily doodles over on my instagram! Remember if you decide to participate via Twitter or Instagram please use #FanArtUp so we can all checkout your doodles!

Random Doodles
This weeks randoms are the three other mini paintings that I’m working on. Anybody see anything they like? I’m actually going to repaint over everything in the background of the whale painting (except the whale) LOL.
So link up folks we want to see your art!

I love the colors you used for Maleficient, but I think Red Riding Hood is my favorite! I watched Maleficient two months ago and loved it! I think they did a great job with the effects and the costumes!

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I really want to! Love your work this week, especially the whale 🙂
Jen (At Random)
Wow, you’re on a roll! They all turned out great! I think Red is my fav although I have no real reason because maleficient is gorgeous as well. Maybe it’s the color pop of Red.

Everyone loves the umbrella girl! I guess I’ll have to come up with another one in that style. Hmmm brainstorming. I’m so glad you like them. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish them all real soon.

Maleficent!! ♥ I ADORED the movie too! And I loved how they took the focus away from romantic insta-love to something much more meaningful! Your artwork of her is phenomenal! I love it 😀 Thanks for sharing ^^

Aw! They’re all so cute! The red-coated girl’s umbrella catches my eye, for some reason. I like the shading.

I should definitely watch Maleficent soon! Your horned girl looks like she could be a woodland creature, a modified nymph or centaur. Very cool!

Kel @ Booked til Tuesday
It all looks so cute! Great Maleficent-inspired piece, and I really love the faceless Little Red Riding Hood. (For some reason, cute, faceless fairy tale characters seem to work.) And it’s definitely awesome that Disney is focusing on more familial love and not just romance. 🙂

These are great!! I was thinking of picking up some wood to paint on, but I wasn’t really sure how well my paint would work on it. I might buy one just to try it out anyway.
I love them all!

Totally give it a shot – those wooden plaques at Michaels are SUPER cheap – just be aware they dent really easily because its a very soft wood. I would recommend treating it in clear gesso or white gesso first because then you don’t have to worry about the wood soaking up the paint (uses less paint that way)

Thanks – I’m so glad you like her. Everyone that commented seems to prefer her. Technically she was just inspired by Maleficent – I didn’t intend her to actually be Maleficent =)
