This week’s art was inspired by
Random doodles from my sketchbook that I turned into yarn paintings.
Admittedly I think this little girl with her fox hat and kittie are my favorite so far of the yarnart I’ve done – alright I really adore that white and blue ghost I made first last week. Ok, ok ok you twist my arm, I further admit I’ve loved them all so far, admittedly the Totoro now seems rather simple next the the others.
I’ve decided I’m going to just go ahead and put them all up in my new Etsy shop this weekend (Now to just come up with a better name for my shop!) – I’ll be sure to add a shop widget to my sidebar and put it out on instagram when I actually have the darn thing up and running for those that are interested.

She’s not done yet – I still have to fill in the rest of the background with the light green. The pink circles on her cheeks are much more noticeable in real lighting – my camera sucks and isn’t picking up the true colors on this.
You can see lots more of my daily doodles over on my instagram! Remember if you decide to participate via Twitter or Instagram please use #FanArtUp so we can all checkout your doodles!
So link up folks we want to see your art!

These are so cute! What backing are you using? I’ve been using a thicker art paper, which works…but I don’t know if a frame is going to fit on top of it nicely or not. I’m having so much trouble making my lines look as nice as yours too, lol. Though I might just need to upgrade glue…again… 😛

I’ve tried Thick art paper (not thick enough in my opinion) and very heavy watercolor paper, also just used the packs of the frame itself – but you have to already know the yarn art will fit in the frame before you do that or you waste the frame entirely. You could probably try canvas board – I haven’t tried that – but again that is really thick almost cardboard so you’d have a hard time finding a standard frame for it.

This is awesome. AND AMAZING. I love that dragon. I’ve never actually seen yarn art until now…it’s really rather cool. And I fiiiinally created something arty so I can link up. XD Hehe. I’ll have to wait until tomorrow though because it’s too dark to take a good pictures. Exciting. XD

Ahhh, I love that last one! They all look great though, when I attempted yarn art a few years ago the result was lots of yarn sticking to my fingers and a crumpled wet sheet of paper.

Hi. Can’t figure out how to do this weeks post as I’m out of the country. Which is a pity because I’ve drawn the most abysmal sea monster ever! I absolutely love your dragon! Will you be posting some pics of your shop?
Lynn.

Love your sad dragon. 😀 Can’t help but feel like he would be great in a pediatrician’s office.

Congrats on getting your Etsy on! I do love your art (my reading monster has a place of honor in my office, so I can look at him when I write!). I forgot to come back and answer your question — I did yarn art in art class in high school (Eons ago) so it wasn’t anything interesting but it would probably be fun to play with different densities and textures. I can see ground being a more prickly wool and sky being fluffier and pet-able…

I’m so happy to learn that you’re taking the Etsy plunge, and once I have money to burn you’ll be one of my first stops—that is, if you’ll ship to Canada? I’ve been neglecting these posts because I get my fix on Instagram, so I just wanted to pop in to say hi. Ooh, and I’m glad to see that none of your creations are touching their naughty bits this week. 😉

I saw your sad one-toothed dragon on instagram and it was instant adoration!! These yarn creations are probably my favourite of your Fan Art Up series so far. And what a great way to make a dent in that massive yarn collection, eh?

The cuteness! It BURNS! Haha, does everyone who walks by have to pet the dragons and feel the soft yarn? 😉

Tabitha (Pabkins)
actually I have each of them in a picture frame (avoid dust that way) because after awhile if you don’t frame it I think dust particles would stick to it and dull the colors (also if you use wool yarn moths will get to it and eat the yarn)
