This week’s art
I really actually haven’t touched my art supplies much at all this week as compared to the past several weeks. What I’m really excited about is THE LAST UNICORN! and so I just did this today not but an hour before I created this blog post!
This is one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood. I used to sit and watch this movie all day long over and over and over again. So I just found out that the author PETER S. BEAGLE will be coming to my town next friday December 5th (he’ll actually be here on December 1st as well – my area is lucky enough to have two showings for him) and I will get to meet him and see THAT LAST UNICORN on the big screen! So I got a bug in my ear and decided to do a color pencil on wooden plaque of Amalthea in her unicorn and human form. I’ll show it again once it’s finished!
Oh yes and here are the crochet toys in progress in their not sewn together states haha. You love how much of a mess my desk is don’t you? My snacks all getting up in the photos too (those are the best strawberry chocolates ever! I can’t find them in the states anymore at the local Korean market so I had to order them from Japan I already ate them all *sadface* The red guy is going to get some black X stitches on a few places on his arm and one on his forehead I think and some ears as well.
You can see lots more of my daily doodles over on my instagram! Remember if you decide to participate via Twitter or Instagram please use #ArtitUp so we can all checkout your doodles!

This Week’s Crafty AGGRAVATION!
Projects that I agree to do that I then lose interest in doing. I think I’m coming to realize I shouldn’t tell people I will make something for them unless I start it and do it that day because realistically my attention span is SOOO bad that I might lose interest in doing what they want completely and quite frankly I hate feeling like I’m hemmed in by someone else’s expectations – what if they don’t like it etc. What if they want me to do something I don’t really like? That’s the problem I’m having right now. I agreed to do a yarn painting which is a fan art yarn painting for a popular disney movie character that I’m just not interested in doing….but too late now I have to buckle down and do it. I think I’m going to refrain from custom requests in the future such as this one unless its something of my own art. lol
So link up folks we want to see your art!

Tammy @ Books Bones & Buffy
Now you have to read the book, The Last Unicorn, if you haven’t already. I love your drawing!

Well I can’t take credit for the art since I looked at two different web images to mimic/draw them together. I should try one in my style but doubt it would look good with a side profile.

That Last Unicorn drawing looks amazing, you can really draw well! I loved the movie as a kid, although I was scared of the red bull. I rewatched it last year and it was so nostalgic, my sister got me the book for christmas last year, but I haven’t read it yet. Have you read the book?

Thanks I can’t take full credit for particular drawing since I looked at two images from the internet to put this overlapping together. My style is usually way more simple. The unicorn was easy but as you might be able tell I had a hard time with the girl, her face and body placements. I’ll have to try drawing some more.
No I haven’t even read the book. I will before 12/5 since that is the signing.

Wow the girl and the unicorn picture is amazing – is this the first stage? Are you adding colour??
I love your little crocheted critters – so many uses – I think they’d be great on a key ring or bag decoration! (Am I a little bit soft do you think?)
I’m being dense and can’t figure out how to leave a link so here it is!!

Yes this is just the first stage. I plan to make them mostly white with purple and pink accents like the movie. And probably the background a dark midnight blue.
Yes I’m going to be making really little versions of the toys also. Believe it or not tho, the smaller I make the toys the more difficult it is to make them.
I might have messed up the link up last night. I’ll check it and attempt to fix, thanks for letting me know!

Carmel @ Rabid Reads
I LOVE The Last Unicorn!! I didn’t realize that were making a movie out of it. *happy dance* Your way to celebrate is obviously better than mine, especially given I have two left feet, but hey, to each their own. Your crochet dudes are looking good!

Tabitha (Not Yet Read)
The movie is actually over 25 years old. You can buy it or even rent it on Amazon instant viewing. If you haven’t watched it you absolutely must, it is amazing and has a wonderful soundtrack!!

Oh I love The Last Unicorn and that’s awesome that the author is coming to your town. I’m a little jealous! 😉

You should totally check and see if he is coming near you – he’s not just touring the US – he’s on a world tour!

There’s only so much time in the day for reading or drawing. I loved unicorns as a kid. This one turned out really well. That’s awesome that you get to meet the author, sounds like fun! 🙂

Danya @ Fine Print
I loved The Last Unicorn cartoon! Kind of dark and strange but in a good way. I’m definitely on Team Unicorn in the age old debate between zombies and unicorns.

I loved that movie growing up! (And now too!) I have the soundtrack, you did know you can get the soundtrack on CD? And I love that drawing! Can’t wait to see what else you do to it. Such a lucky person to get to meet the author!
