November 30, 2014 About Me, Monthly Overview 29

That’s a Wrap! – November is Over! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Or if you don’t celebrate then I hope your November was fabulous and that you’re enjoying the lovely change of seasons. This was a much better month of reading that is for all of us that is for sure!

Not Yet Read News:

  • Tabitha is back totally back in the swing of things reading wise! Not only did I finally kick that reading funk in the ass I actually really want to read again. It feels to good to finally get that desire back. Everyone should be seeing things get back to the norm around here activity wise with me visiting again more and actually returning comments again.
  • Two reviews were posted this month that were written by one of my best friends Rachael. Though after writing two she decided writing book reviews totally isn’t for her so I doubt we’ll see anything further from her. But hey big lollipops and kisses to her for giving it a try right?
  • You’ll likely be seeing some more comics and graphic novel reviews in the coming months as Kat and I both really enjoy graphic novels. How frequently this will happen depends on our moods I guess. =)
  • My lovely cousin in law, Gosia will hopefully be writing a few reviews for Not Yet Read this coming month! She borrowed a nice little stack of my review books to help me out during my funk and she’s made it through a couple of them and we’re just waiting on her written reviews now. So be sure to say hello on her reviews when you see them soon!

About Me Junk:

  • Update on the pregnancy! For those that didn’t catch my announcement last month, I’m having a boy. I’m still pretty sick and vomitty on a pretty much daily basis. At this point I’m well over the halfway point (I think I’m 26 weeks now…) and usually “morning sickness” goes away by week 16 of pregnancy but mine seems to be holding strong.
  • While I finally opened my Etsy shop I haven’t made any actual sales yet, but I’m not worried about it because I’m much more excited about the craft fair next year. I have some craft goals in mind and I hope I can meet them even with the new baby that’s coming. Goals: paint 100 mini 5×7 watercolors and nicely matted in black mats (because hey I bought a big bulk box of 100 black mats. At least 25 yarn paintings, 50 color pencil plaques, 20 crochet toys (20 might be pushing it since these take so long to make). Other things I plan to have but don’t have a # goal in mind for: crochet book markers, stickers, tote bags (with my robot logo on them), acrylic paintings (as I’m in the mood and Rachael is going to pitch in and help as well with these), possibly boxed blank greeting cards of my doodles/watercolors, small sewn dolls (I plan to try to come up with a nifty pattern…but that might not work out), still thinking….what else let’s see – embroidery hoop art/painted stitched etc. If you can’t tell I am just all over the board. We’ll see if all of that actually happens lol. I always try to bite off more then I can chew.
  • Two of my library shelves were moved out of my library and down to the living room along with the couch that was in the library to prepare for a reorganization on that room because I’m turning it into my new art room. It will still have the bulk of my library shelves in it but now the rest of the room will be an art studio. I’m so excited! I’ll be sure to share pictures of the setup when it’s done – probably sometime in January.
  • Currently reading: NICE DRAGONS FINISH LAST by Rachel Aaron, THESE BROKEN STARS by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
  • Currently watching (or watched): I only recently watched THOR: The Dark World for the first time and really enjoyed it. I still have a few other of those marvel type movies I need to catch up on – I should probably have a marathon shouldn’t I? I need to watch Iron Man 3 and Captain America 2 and rewatch Avengers I think (are there 2 of those also? jeez so many of them I can’t keep them straight). I’m also finally all caught up on GRIMM (love this show) and on Big Bang Theory. Now I just need to watch an entire ten episodes of Sleepy Hollow. I just really don’t make much time for TV but those are the few shows that I’ve enjoyed or am into. On December 5th I’m going to be watching THE LAST UNICORN at the theater where I will also get to meet the author of the book! Peter S. Beagle!! You have no idea how excited I am for this since I have adored this cartoon my whole life and to meet the man behind the story will be amazing!!
  • Currently crafting: various colored pencil plaques and a multitude of 5×7 watercolor paintings and of course I always have a few crochet amigurumi toys going!

Stalk me!

Tabitha (Pabkins)

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

My last pregnancy (my boy is 7 yrs old now) pretty much cemented the fact that I’m not having anymore babies. I was sick right through the entire 9 months. That was brutal. So I hope you’ll get over your “vomitty” spell soon. I know it’s not fun. And hurrah for getting over your reading funk! Us, book bingers can’t afford these funks. Hmmpph.

Looking forward to reading your posts this December!

I hear you! If this would have happened to me on the first child/pregnancy I know it would have been much more unlikely that I ever had a second one – I think I still would have because we wanted two. But thankfully I know this is my last, no way could I handle another child let alone another pregnancy. Since I’m already at what I think 26 or 27 weeks and the vomiting and sickness is still going strong the doctor says it could likely last the whole time. Oh well I’m handling it, it is definitely not as bad as it was those first 17 weeks.

Yes I’m soooo glad the reading funk is over – though I have to admit I really enjoyed the drive to do more artsy stuff.

I hope you feel better soon Tabitha! All your craft goals sound amazing and I hope you can achieve everything you want 🙂 I seriously can’t wait to read Dreamer’s pool. She’s one of my favorite authors and the cover is gorgeous. I hope I’ll get it in December for one of the Holidays.

    Happy reading 🙂

I hope I can get it all done as well! I’m pretty determined though and I think I can make a pretty good dent in all of the things I want to do. It will help a lot once maternity leave starts and I’m not working all day long.

Marillier is amazing! I can’t believe I waited this long to read a book by her – now I can’t wait to decide which book of hers I’ll read next – which is your favorite so I can bump that up on my list of hers to choose from.

Sweet I added it to my Goodreads and I’m going to see if i can snag a copy on my next trip to the used book store – they always have Marillier on hand! I think I have Daughter of the Forest somewhere already in my shelves (which my books are all over the floor in my library because of redoing the room so I can’t find anything!!)

Yes yes I am SOOO excited for you – did you go with the audio version? I thought it was amazing. Definitely one of my favorite narrations this year. I’m so so picky about narration but every voice done was perfect!

Oh yes? Awesome books!? Which ones!? I have not been paying attention to catalogs at all – I need to know what to start requesting!!! I’m so out of the loop!

Hmm, I’m not sure you have enough on your plate. Perhaps if we added running for president, solving world hunger and discovering how many licks to the center of a Tootsie-pop to the agenda? 😉

But seriously, I hope you have a lot of fun with the arts and crafts and reading! On a side note, I didn’t get around to watching Thor: The Dark World until well after its theater run, but I really loved that one. Iron Man 3 and Captain America 2 were both pretty well done, but sadly they did not have Loki.

I was soo sad with the twist that was thrown in on THOR 2 about Loki I was like ahhhhh he’s redeemed and then BOINK that ending and it was like I was completely fooled! So dude where’s Odin!?

Yeah I know I am setting some crazy expectations for myself aren’t I? I probably won’t be able to do all those things especially since whenever I get back into the reading groove my creative groove teeters off. Now I’m going to be scrambling every week to get an art post up as well! LOL.

  4. Miriam @ Inky Realms

Ohhhhhhhh congratulations! Didn’t realise you were expecting. And I hope the morning sickness passes soon, sounds very frustrating!

Anyways your November looks like it was super busy. Do you manage to craft that much when you’re not in a reading funk? Although hurrah for being excited about books again… I love that feeling of falling into a great novel after not reading for a while.

The morning sickness is more like all day sickness – but luckily yes it has finally started to let up a lot and I haven’t gotten sick in a few days!

I definitely don’t craft as much when I’m reading regularly. I’m hoping to find a better balance so I can continue to make art (and hopefully sell it)

I’ve definitely been lucky with some great reads so far in December!

This is a great round up post and you certainly did get your reading funk kicked out!
Sorry that you’re suffering with the sickness! Have you tried ginger – I’m fairly certain it used to be a bit of an old wive’s tale for sickness – ginger tea?? (Then again the very notion could just turn your stomach – everybody’s different – my mum said the smell of fresh baked bread used to make her nauseous.

It must feel so good wanting to read again. That’s too bad that your friend didn’t enjoy writing reviews. I wrote one and I was hooked. I look forward to your graphic novel reviews! 🙂 That’s so nice of your cousin to write reviews for you.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still sick. Sounds like you’ll be busy with art this year!

Only one Avengers so far. I loved the sibling ‘fighting’ in Thor 2! I didn’t care much for Iron Man 3, which is saying something, because I love RDJ. (Yes, I’ve seen them all.) I really like Grimm too! I’m so glad about that last episode!

    • Tabitha (Pabkins)

Its cool I know writing reviews isn’t for everyone – I even wrote a discussion post about the experiment of having friends and family try to review books – hopefully I’ll post it this weekend.

I have to watch last week’s Grimm episode! I still haven’t watched Iron Man 3 I just have to be in the mood to movie watch – which I rarely am. lol
