THIS WEEK’S TOP TEN:

Reading, Blogging or whatever Goals for 2015!

There are a lot of things I want to accomplish in 2015. I know this technically is supposed to be a Top Ten but I just didn’t want to cut myself short so I combined it into my entire Goals for 2015 post! I hope I can still achieve all these things considering I’m having a baby in March!

READING GOALS

– set my 2015 Goodreads reading goal to 200 books!
– read more of my already purchased books that have been sitting in my shelves for years (I’m already making great headway on this). I’m hoping to do at least two a month.
– make room for more “backlist” titles. This ties in directly with my read my already purchased books goal. Often I see friends have read an older book that sounds fabulous that I want to read but I never seen to make room for it.do I’m going to try more to do so!
– grant myself even more of a go ahead to DNF more books. I’ve already been doing much better on this DNF’d at least 4 books in 2014

– alternate back and forth on the reviews  between adult and YA book reviews. So that there is more of an even balance if possible
– try to do some craft or art how to blog posts

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

Ooh I would love to see the art/craft how to blog posts! I highly advocate that goal. 🙂 All of these goals are great though – I hope you achieve them all! I do love the one about finding and commenting on five new blogs a week – I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to maintain that, but maybe one a week will be good for me. 🙂

Good luck to you in 2015, Tabitha. Your goals just made me think about my overwhelming, dusty TBR pile in my basement. I think I’m going to endeavour to read one book from that pile a month next year.

    Happy New Year!

Holy cow! That’s a very ambitious set of goals. The art-related ones should be fun, though. Good luck, Tabitha! 🙂

I have two real reading goals for next year, apart from simply reading:

    1) Balancing new books with novels that have been sitting on my shelves for a while

    2) Reading more books for “market research” for my current WIP and other story ideas, just so I can ensure my stories are unique from what’s already out there

My biggest goals of 2015 isn’t reading or blogging related, though. They are:

    1) Finishing the first draft of my WIP (fantasy novel) by February 28th (I think that’s doable, with 20K to 25K left to write…)

    2) Revising said WIP for Draft #2

That second set of goals is the one I’m really going to work towards. Fingers crossed!

heck yes! I’m determined to take advantage of audio books a lot next year once the baby comes. My husband bought new a set of blue tooth headphones that rest around your neck instead of your ears and I’m looking forward to those a lot.

Plus maternity leave lasts quite a long time adding my sister and mom will both be visiting at separate tones for at least a month each. So I won’t be left to my own devices with out help for me and the kids 🙂

Those are some great challenges you want to do. I wasn’t planning on it but realizing that I also need to read more books that have been sitting on my shelves for awhile, I now think that I’m going to do the TBR Pile Challenge.

Good luck on your goals and I hope you have an amazing 2015!

Such a good idea to post what challenges you are going to do this year. I need to look around and see what challenges I am going to do. I want to really participate in some this year. I usually only do the goodreads one and the Graphic Novels Challenge. But this year will be my year for challenges!!! LOL!!

Good luck on you challenges. I gave up on doing them along time ago. I just suck at keeping up and track of them. And good luck with all your other goals too! 🙂

Wow, you have a lot of challenges and goals next year Tabitha, nothing like aiming high! One of mine is to read my books on my shelf as well and try and not request any more review reads. Although I vaguely remember having the same goal next year…have a wonderful 2015 lovely!

This is a great post and I totally want to steal some of your ideas! Well, at least I’m definitely going to check out some of the challenges you mention.
There’s no way I could do 200 books – that’s very impressive and good luck with it – I think you can do it!! I aim for 100 books a year. I used to do slightly more, probably about 120 but actually blogging and chatting reduces your free time some.
All the best for 2015 and I’m looking forward to all your awesome posts.
    Lynn 😀

I agree that blogging definitely decreases the amount of books I can read, but then I realized that blogging actually increased the amount I read. Because while I’ve always been an avid Reader, once I started blogging my reading over tripled because I then had a community of friends who loved reading as much as I did…Plus all the review books started rolling in lol.

  9. Karen

I definitely want to read more of what I already have! My Kindle is almost cleared out (one page of books left so not too bad) and I managed to open up a few small shelves but I want to do better. I have too many *must have* books at the time that are still unread years later.

Good luck with all your goals and Happy New Year!

Holy shit that’s a lot to handle O_O especially with the baby coming. Goodluck to you!! I hope we all help out a little.

  11. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

I don’t know how you’ll be able to do all this with the new baby! I know I definitely won’t be as productive – all my hobbies are going out the window. That was how it was the first time, and now I’ll have a hyperactive toddler to chase after now too!

These are great goals. I definitely need to put some of these on my list, too. Interested to see what your art/crafting posts will be like. And I am the worst at reviewing books after I read them. It really takes me a long time sometimes so I am going to try to be better this year, too.

Uhm, daaaaaaamn! Good luck, that’s a lot of goals! I think they’re all achievable, though. You can do it!

Keeping up with reviews is tricky… I usually end up finishing a book when I’m in bed, and then I can’t go to sleep until I have a new one started. Then I end up with 6 books to review.

I want to do some more featuring of older books this year, too.

My inner spreadsheet nerd is loving all the things you want to track. Mmm.

Wow, I hope you can manage 200 books! I’d be too scared to set mine so high. I so need to read the books I already own. That’s a lot of challenges! I didn’t join any of them lol. I’m good at writing my reviews right away, but not scheduling posts. Yay for art how to posts!

I pay attention to read arcs and library books and series books, but that’s about it. Maybe indie books?

Good luck with all of your art goals! My sewing machine hates me! I can’t wait to see the doodle designed cloth dolls!

I love the 200 books reading goal! That’s something I hope you get done and then some! Also, I really hope you get some time to make some dolls based on your doodles. Your drawings are full of character and charm, I always thought they’d make lovely dolls.
