– read more of my already purchased books that have been sitting in my shelves for years (I’m already making great headway on this). I’m hoping to do at least two a month.
– make room for more “backlist” titles. This ties in directly with my read my already purchased books goal. Often I see friends have read an older book that sounds fabulous that I want to read but I never seen to make room for it.do I’m going to try more to do so!
– grant myself even more of a go ahead to DNF more books. I’ve already been doing much better on this DNF’d at least 4 books in 2014

– write my reviews as soon as I finish the book, preferably before I start the next one…or at least don’t wait till I have 4 to write lol
– alternate back and forth on the reviews between adult and YA book reviews. So that there is more of an even balance if possible
– try to do some craft or art how to blog posts
– participate at least once a month on the Top Ten Tuesday meme. I love looking at people’s lists so I should stop being lazy and do a few every once I awhile
– Hit 1000 bloglovin followers

Oh sure, make me look like a lazy bones. The thought of a thousand followers is foreign to me. But I am totally DMing you on twitter with a question this post made me think of in the next day or two.

Yeah a Thousand followers is a lot to shoot for but I made it pretty far into that during 2014 so I’m optimistic 🙂 I’m always up for questions.

Ooh I would love to see the art/craft how to blog posts! I highly advocate that goal. 🙂 All of these goals are great though – I hope you achieve them all! I do love the one about finding and commenting on five new blogs a week – I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to maintain that, but maybe one a week will be good for me. 🙂

Yeah I might not be able to maintain the five new blogs a week but I’m definitely going to try! At least hit blogs that I don’t on a regular basis.
I’m already trying to think up my first art how to post!

I would really like to do some challenges also this year. I must check out some of the ones you have listed! 200 books is a lot. I don’t think I could possibly get through that much even if I din’t have Uni and a job! Good luck with your challenges.

Well I made it to 162 this year with a full time job Anne a 2yo lol but then I don’t get much sleep. I was really hoping for 200 but I went thru a three month reading funk of barely reading. Uni is hard tho since they make you read so much textbook stuff! Audio books help me 🙂

Good luck to you in 2015, Tabitha. Your goals just made me think about my overwhelming, dusty TBR pile in my basement. I think I’m going to endeavour to read one book from that pile a month next year.
Happy New Year!

That was my thought exactly! I had to move two shelving units out of my library a few weeks ago to prepare to turn my library into my office/library/art studio since the current office is going to be the new baby room…and when I had to unshelve all the books I realized just how many of them have never been read!!

I sure as heck so! I think I can do it tho! I’m just sad I can’t go to BEA this year because of the pregnancy. I’m so sad…I’m going to be so short of books #sigh

Holy cow! That’s a very ambitious set of goals. The art-related ones should be fun, though. Good luck, Tabitha! 🙂
I have two real reading goals for next year, apart from simply reading:
1) Balancing new books with novels that have been sitting on my shelves for a while
2) Reading more books for “market research” for my current WIP and other story ideas, just so I can ensure my stories are unique from what’s already out there
My biggest goals of 2015 isn’t reading or blogging related, though. They are:
1) Finishing the first draft of my WIP (fantasy novel) by February 28th (I think that’s doable, with 20K to 25K left to write…)
2) Revising said WIP for Draft #2
That second set of goals is the one I’m really going to work towards. Fingers crossed!

heck yes! I’m determined to take advantage of audio books a lot next year once the baby comes. My husband bought new a set of blue tooth headphones that rest around your neck instead of your ears and I’m looking forward to those a lot.
Plus maternity leave lasts quite a long time adding my sister and mom will both be visiting at separate tones for at least a month each. So I won’t be left to my own devices with out help for me and the kids 🙂

This is a great post and I totally want to steal some of your ideas! Well, at least I’m definitely going to check out some of the challenges you mention.
There’s no way I could do 200 books – that’s very impressive and good luck with it – I think you can do it!! I aim for 100 books a year. I used to do slightly more, probably about 120 but actually blogging and chatting reduces your free time some.
All the best for 2015 and I’m looking forward to all your awesome posts.

I agree that blogging definitely decreases the amount of books I can read, but then I realized that blogging actually increased the amount I read. Because while I’ve always been an avid Reader, once I started blogging my reading over tripled because I then had a community of friends who loved reading as much as I did…Plus all the review books started rolling in lol.

I definitely want to read more of what I already have! My Kindle is almost cleared out (one page of books left so not too bad) and I managed to open up a few small shelves but I want to do better. I have too many *must have* books at the time that are still unread years later.
Good luck with all your goals and Happy New Year!

Keeping up with reviews is tricky… I usually end up finishing a book when I’m in bed, and then I can’t go to sleep until I have a new one started. Then I end up with 6 books to review.
I want to do some more featuring of older books this year, too.
