That’s a Wrap! – Wow – January has been an amazing month for me reading wise. I sure did come back with a thunder. I had decided to set my Goodreads Challenge at 200 books this year and I’m already 5 BOOKS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not Yet Read News:
- My local friend Maggie has decided she no longer has time for writing reviews or blogging and has bowed out of contributing to Not Yet Read. It was great while the experiment of trying to suck my local friends and family was fun while it lasted! But I totally understand that reviewing and blogging is not for everyone.
- I made a guest appearance on SF Signal with a list of SFF books I’m anticipating in 2015 along with a lot of other folks listing their most anticipated reads!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About Me Junk:
- Update on the pregnancy! I’m 5 1/2 weeks away from my due date and I already feel like I could have this baby right now. I feel HUGE! Thankfully even though my due date is March 12th I get to start my maternity leave on Feb 12. So just 2 more weeks of work to go then I can relax (but then also try to furiously pre-schedule on the blog should the baby happen to come early). I find sitting at a desk REALLY hard for extended periods of time though.
- I can hardly believe how much I’ve been able to read this month! For the month of January I averaged about 1 book read every 1.5 days. Which means if I can keep this rate up I’ll be able to read 228 books in the year of 2015 instead of just 200. BUT I really doubt I’ll be able to maintain that pace once the baby is born. We’ll see!
- Currently reading: MONSTROUS by Mary Kate Connolly and KAREN MEMORY by Elizabeth Bear
- Current audiobook listening: TIMELESS by Gail Carriger (last book in Parasol Protectorate)
- TV/FILM and such: FACEOFF on SyFy is back on so I watch that every Tuesday night. I recently also watched JACK AND THE CLOCKWORK HEART on Netflix per Kat’s recommendation. It is such a lovely film and feels very Tim Burton-esque. I highly recommend it! Also I recently purchased LESSONS LEARNED made by Toby Froud (the child of Wendy and Brian Froud who were the artists behind the movies LABYRINTH and THE DARK CRYSTAL)
- Currently crafting: I’m working on a shadowbox with mini books, a pop up doodle and some other little things. It’ll be featured as my first “how to” art it up post sometime this month. I am determined to finish this thing! Oh yes and I got a sweet ass printer for my birthday a few days ago! It can do art prints, greeting cards, canvas prints. The plan is to turn my watercolor doodles into sets of greeting cards. Here is a big batch of doodles that are ready to be watercolored – then I’ll scan them and try to print them up as greeting cards. So nervous because I’m still not completely happy with my watercolor skills. But hey I gotta keep trying! I hope I don’t ruin my doodles!

When I'm in the zone I can flip book pages faster than the eye can see - screaming "More Input!" I'm a book, yarn, & art supply hoarding goblin who loves to draw, make toys and craft all sorts of creepy cute things. My current habit is to listen to audio books while I'm arting it up!

All your doodles are amazing. I keep looking at them. I think my favorite one is the girl hiding behind that huge cat 😀 It’s adorable. You read a lot of books, I hope you’re able to keep it up so you can achieve your goal of 228 books.

La La in the Library
I have wanted to read A Natural History of Dragons for a while now and have had my eye out for discounted books, but haven’t seen any. I am still trying to find time to finish The Raven Boys, so I can get to the next two books. I think after grocery shopping today, and making dinner I am going to be a no bother zone, so I can get this done. I keep asking my son to review books for me, and he will say yes, and then no. Lol. Once you are off for maternity leave get extra sleep! Yes! It is the best advice I can give you.

If you’re worried about your doodles, you could use your nifty new printer and make a few copies? Then practice the water-coloring on the copies until you’re happy with them? All your stuff is so cute, I can’t wait to see how the colored versions turn out!
Took your advice on that last e-mail, and added the stats to my profile. Two days later I got approved for ‘Vision in Silver’ as well! So I think you are officially my good luck charm. *impish grin*

Wow you really had a great month reading wise! And I love your doodles, you have such an unique art style. As a kid I used to draw a lot and I was always afraid I would ruin whatever I had drawn when I would colour it, so I never did.
I own the first book in that Anne Bishop series, but haven’t read it yet. I keep hearign great thigns about it, so I am really excited to start this series.
Hope February is a great for you as well and good luck with the pregnancy!

Wow – you’ve been so busy you make me feel exhausted or like a complete slacker!
Nearly there now with the baby – it’s very exciting!!!
Could you not make copies of your doodles before you paint them?? Scan them and print out two or three of each then watercolour them – or are you just trying to stick to originals only??
Lynn 😀

Holy hannah! And I thought I had a productive reading month! You’re on fire, girl! I’m looking forward to reading Vision in Silver as well. It seems like I’ve waited for it for so long. Another month to go. Sigh. I hope baby is not giving you too much trouble. I remember how uncomfortable it’d been. It’s like no matter what I do, something is pressing on my insides. Sitting down for long periods of time made the swelling even worse!
Have a great week, Tabitha! And sorry to hear about Maggie.

I have Vision in Silver and can’t wait to read it. How is Karen Memory, Tabitha? I want to read it too! Love your cards and well done on being on SFF Signal. I read them from time to time 🙂 Shame Maggie left, but I understand how it can be overwhelming. Vika is on hiatus from my blog as well but for a different reasons. I hope to lure her back again at some point…
