This week’s art
This is actually a “Throwback Thursday” type of art post. I made this ceramic bookworm bookend years ago and since I’m not feeling much up to making stuff right now I figured I’d share a picture of it with you. I don’t do ceramics anymore but when I tried it out I definitely had lots of fun with it! Yes I made the two crochet dolls leaning in the corner. Both of them are unfinished. The one with the mushroom hat needs his spots sewn on and the pink one behind him needs some ears. He has a horn on his head but I’ve decided I’m not going to attach that horn…it just looks hmmm somewhat indecent? hehe
You can see lots more of my daily doodles over on my instagram! Remember if you decide to participate via Twitter or Instagram please use #ArtitUp so we can all checkout your doodles!

Have any of you ever worked with ceramics? What did you make? My friend’s mom has a ceramic art studio so I might dabble again someday but ultimately you know I’m an instant gratification kind of gal and did you know that these things have to be fired several times in a kiln before they are done? A bisque fire, then you glaze them and have to fire them again. Talk about time intensive before your get your piece back. Plus….I’m just not that great at it lol.

This Week’s Crafty AGGRAVATION!
Hey – since I’m not really doing much crafting right now you can consider me crafty aggravation free this week! Other then the fact that I wish I COULD craft. =P
So link up folks we want to see your art!

Ceramics seem like an extensive process, but I bet it’s fun to paint them afterwards. I like the way the bookworm’s ears look too!

So cute! I have only made ceramics long ago in grade school, and I remember I didn’t like the feel of wet clay. So no more ceramics for me, LOL!

Haha that bookworm is so ugly/cute and adorable. 🙂 I used to play a bit with making ceramics as a teen and as you said – it takes so much time to get a finished product. I think I only managed to finish one ashtray and one teapot (it leaked) 😀

That bookend is great isn’t it! Ceramics are a lot of messing about though. I only ever tried in school and you’re right about all the firing and glazes – it’s a lot of effort for sure.

Oh I like that! and I like this feature. I think I’ll try my hand at this one. Art comes in many forms, yes? I’ll have to read the rules. 🙂

I did ceramics in high school. They’re a lot less fun to make than they are to paint for me. I LOVE painting them though! Not the kind you have to paint with glaze, and then re-fire but the ones that are pretty much ‘finished’. I paint them with acrylic paints, and then seal the paint with a matte varnish.
One of these days I’ll actually get pictures of my finished stuff on my InstaGram.
I love how one of the horns? Feelers? On your bookworm is all curly, and the other one more straight.
